Rob,

What's wrong with sweep tubes??  Yep the FPM300 is drifty but the rest of 
the radio seems OK but buy the markII.

run from the FPM300 as fast as you can.  I had one in the late 1970s.
It was a dog with a D.  Sweep tube final, but no stock fan.  I think a
fan was an option.  Lift the lid and hear the VFO drift 5 kc.  Ditto
for putting a fan on the rig.  On CW there was no offset.
