[Boatanchors] 12 volt supply question

Hello Ray...

I have read the replies to this and although each has some pearls of wisdom
they do seem (at least at this beginning) to muddy the waters somewhat.

I have converted several power supplies from desktop computers over the
years and currently use one to power my Mirage 2 meter amp (B-34-G) in the
house and occasionally and simultaneously for my Kenwood TH-K2AT handheld.

It has been working well for several years.

I gleaned the info over the years from articles in various ham publications.

During the conversions follow "the usual safety precautions"

After conversion, I usually put a resistive load on the output (often an
old car headlight) and a scope across the load to be sure the output is
relatively "clean".

Different supplies can and will behave differently in different situations
but any hiccups can usually be easily remedied.

If not, grab another of a different make and try again, leaving the other
for a more suitable purpose.

OK - this is getting longer than I wanted but the short answer is YES - it
is entirely possible.

Research it, try it and let us know, please.
