[Boatanchors] Has anyone ever cut the glass top off a miniaturetube to re-use the base?

Get some of the old crimp pins for RS-232 Male DB-25 connectors.
Solder those on some old telephone solid conductor wire.
Then you can use whatever material, even the base of a medicine bottle, and make tight holes in the desired 7 or 9 pin base. Push them in, epoxy in place.
I've made a bunch of "plugs" that way. You can even NOT cut off the pill bottle and build your circuit inside it.

You can buy gold plated pins that plug into those sockets.
Solder wires to them, drill holes in a small cut-off plastic bottle, insert pins, and fill with epoxy or sensor-safe silicone.
Just a thought. I still have a very few plugs left over from the 70s, which I am slowly using up.
