Amazing how with 400 KC of available, mostly empty
band space, the SSSOBs must squat in the AM window.
One good thing, though:
It inspires my corny-song-writing eccentricites.
Now if I could only hire some backup singers....
How many remember Marty Robbins and "Big Iron?"

Big Iron on The Air
(3 DE AB5S)
To Thirty Eight Ninety came
a new Old Man one day.
And the hams all gather round to hear
just what he had to say.
Then they looked at their S-meters
and it stood up all their hair.
The Old Man there among them had
The Big Iron on the air.
Big Iron on the air.
Now lurking in the shadows was
a guy named Sideband Sid.
He hated all AMers and
he'd jam them like a lid.
The hams said the law would catch him
but the Feds just didn't care.
Sid said he'd jam The Old Man with
The Big Iron on the air.
Big Iron on the air.
Was seven in the evening and
was time for them to meet.
Sid started playing Slow Scan and
said he was never beat.
Sideband Sid had a signal,
was S-9 and maybe 10,
but The Old Man threw The Big Switch
and was 50 Over then!
50 Over then.
It was over in a moment
and the hams all gathered round.
Sideband Sid had QRTed
and he made not another sound.
Oh, he might have gone on Querming,
but he made a fatal err,
when he tried to jam The Old Man with
The Big Iron on the air.
Big Iron on the air.
Big Iron, Big Iron.
When he tried to jam The Old Man with
The Big Iron on the air.
Big Iron on the air.
