[Boatanchors] [BoatAnchors] Offended by "Ham-mered?"

Sometimes, despite all the odds, outward appearances and all the hamstered "improvements," these sets actually work.
A few years ago, I bought a modified SX-15. The prior owner apparently didn't like to solder because all his under-the-chassis connections were made with wire nuts. To says his work was slipshod would have been giving him far too much credit. I thought that I had, at best, a parts set. Just for grins, I replaced the filter caps and fired it up. I was amazed when the set worked and actually worked pretty well. I have left all this prior work as-is because I see it as a testament to something, although I'm not sure what.

I agree. There is really no excuse for poor workmanship. When I encounter
something like that, all I can do is hope that the perp was the next year's
Darwin Award winner.

As Ronnie wrote, the people who complained are probably the culprits. In
more than half a century, I've only seen two or three modified military rigs
that worked better after the mods. Most don't work at all.
