Almost certainly easier said than done, but of you suspect the band switch, 
set the switch to some band and solder the shortest possible jumpers across 
the pertinent contacts.  And don't rotate the switch to another position.  
If it doesn't start working, it isn't the switch.  Last time that I had to 
do that with a BC-611, it turned out not to be the switch but did lead to 
finding the fault.
