You soon forget that there is also about 300-volts on pin-3 of the 6146 tubes and pins 1, 4, and 6 are 10-ohms away from ground in the SB-102! Any of the the J.B. Weld that might not be COMPLETELY removed, even a very thin amount, if conductive, can definitely be a problem!
As such, it is NOT being a "nanny state" to take precautions to prevent problems.
It is definitely more prudent not to even try to "fix" the locator pin, just to make sure the tube is plugged in correctly, than it is to use a conductive epoxy that can "spill over" and cause a short! Glen, K9STH

a piece of plastic or ceramic and B+ is on a plate cap.
we have all the nanny state we need in QST and new cars that drive you
nuts until you fasten your seat belt. Let's return to common sense.
