[Boatanchors] HRO-5TA1 Questions

I need some help with this receiver. I've recapped it, replaced the out-of-spec resistors and aligned it. It's working very well. I'm using a 5886 power supply (170V B+). I am attaching a link to the schematic. Here are my issues:
1. The S meter does not move at all. How do I troubleshoot the meter itself and the S meter circuit? This is my first non-working S meter.
2. I've aligned each coil set with the receiver. However, the noise-limiter pot blocks access to the 1st RF adjustment screw. Is there any work-around other than loosening the pot and moving it around to get access to that screw?
Otherwise, this receiver is working great. I am impressed with its sensitivity.
