David,
Give it two days out on the porch in the sun.
The metal will get warm and drive out the moisture.

Subject: [Boatanchors] Drying Out an Open Frame, Large Power Transformer.

This has probably been discussed before,
but I can't find the threads.
I have
a large open-frame power transformer removed
from a transmitter stored in a
damp basement for years.
People who store radios in damp basements
should be
moderatly tortured.... slowly....

I'd like to dry it out and test it before
reinstalling it.
I've heard of a box with a heat lamp, putting 4 or 5 volts
on
the primary and shorting all the secondaries to gently
heat it up from inside,
etc.
What are the recommendations for
this?
