      Curious, Larry WA9VRH posted just a while ago that he has November 
1936 and March 1937 issues and Scratchi is in both.  I wonder about this 
especially since if George Loyd Jr. wrote them he would have been 
nineteen at the time.  He is also credited with writing the "Lighthouse 
Larry" pieces for General Electric so writing may have been a profession 
he pursued.  I found one patent issued to him.  Its for an improvement 
on a vacuum capacitor and is assigned to GE.  The application date is 
1944 so he was evidently working for GE during war time.  I tried to 
find out more about him but nearly all is the same obit referenced to 
this list which was evidently copied to a number of publications.  If he 
did in fact originate Scratchi he wrote it on and off for over fifty years.
