First, thanks to all the replied on the question I had
about the A-4352 transformer. It appears that the actual
connection information has disappeared, so I will have
to hook up an audio oscillator, measure voltage ratios,
and figure them out that way.
But to get to the point, a Hallicrafters S-76 followed me
home from a local antique mall a few days ago, and even though
I'm not a big Hallicrafters fan, this radio kind of appealed
to me. No major electrical problems, and basically the radio
is working.
But mechanically is another story, and the mechanics are keeping
me from finishing the electrical part of it (the alignment is *WAAAAY*
off.
So two questions.
The rubber bushings for the main tuning capacitor mounting have
dried out. What is used for replacements? I'm thinking of using grommets
but wondering if there are any other substitutions out there.
Second. Is there a guide somewhere to the *technique* for restringing
dial cord? Not the specifics of how many turns, more on the order of
what knots to use, how to tie them, how to do a job that needs 6 hands
when only two hands are available, what are the right and wrong ways,
that sort of thing.
Thanks
Jack Antonio WA7DIA/4
