A little work with an Ohmmeter should enable a person to determine the terminals of the transformer described below.
The primary leads (six of them) should be easily located since it is likely that the same gauge of wire would be used throughout the primary. The same holds true for the secondary which likely is center tapped.
Transformers that are obviously power or plate transformers almost always have their largest diameter wires as the primary. I used an old Marx toy train transformer (variable output) to put 6 Volts on the primary and checked the outputs and labeled the secondaries at 20 times whatever showed up there. Just be VERY careful as you could be dealing with 100 Volts or more there!
