Hi Phil,

Some hams only count tube sockets/envelopes. Some, including me, count
functional structures. The former would say five tubes (misleading
others about the complexity of the radio) and the rest of us would
counter that there are seven tubes (valves) in there - plus the
rectifier. The latter gives a more accurate picture of the functional
blocks built into the radio.

Of course, this isn't going to change anybody's mind about how to count
them. But now you have my two cents (which in 2015 pennies is about $48.07).
