[Boatanchors] TOWER ERECTION

Burying a portion of a section in concrete has been the "norm" for decades!  However, special attention does have to be made such as having at least 6-inches of gravel at the bottom of the hole for drainage, the shape of the hole which needs to be "flared" outward at the bottom, and so forth.
Now, just burying a section in the soil is a definite "no no"! Glen, K9STH

Check your local codes before starting the project.  They may have
specific requirements for bases depending on height, guying, type of soil, etc.
Better safe than sorry.

Burying a tower section for use as a base is not a good idea.  Eventually
corrosion and chemicals will take their toll.
