I personally think one needs to spend more time analyzing what one does themselves rather then what others are doing.  For some, with LOTS of money, time is worth more then money. $1000 for something is chump change for the wealthy and if you need or want it now, they will easily and gladly pay the $1000. For others, this is not an option.  The bottom line is what seems logical to one may not be logical for the other. Concentrate on what are good decisions for you and let the other guy do what makes sense for him. Ham Radio is made up of hams from all stations in life. Unless you know all the facts, comments on what others do or don't do are just speculation and wasted energy.
