[Boatanchors] LINE VOLTAGE, FILAMENT VOLTAGE and SANITY

Why all the discussion about filament voltage and monitoring the line? The line voltages across North America are probably 12-15 volts higher than they were when our equipment was designed and built in the 50s. Install a line bucker of 10V......just do it! Don’t worry about the filament voltage-anything within a half volt of 6.3 won’t adversely affect the operation of your equipment. With a line bucker everything runs cooler, and IMHO that is the REAL reason you would want to use one. Your power transformer will be much happier and tubes meant to work at 250V will not be struggling at close to 300V with high line voltage.
