[Boatanchors] TC-63 adapter?

My guess is that the adapter was for a tube tester which, unlike most, doesn't have a lever panel which would be set a certain way depending on the pinout the tube under test was using. At least some B&K tube testers (not sure about the ones Sencore made, as mentioned by another) had multiple sockets of each type (7/9-pin miniature, octal, noval, etc.), with each socket wired in a different way. The tube chart/book included with the tester would indicate which of these sockets the intended tube was to be plugged into. My guess is that the 3DG4 tube has a pinout which is different than the wiring of any of the existing sockets on said tester, and that the instructions included with the adapter would tell the user which socket to plug the adapter into in order to test the tube. Hope this helps.

Good question, Richard! Perhaps a different pinout, for some reason? I may
have to crack it open to find out.
