I think I told Rob the story of my AR-88, but weight plays a part in 
it.   It was back in the early days of the internet when a guy at a boys 
school in the UK offered an AR-88 for "free", provided the new owner 
arrange for pick-up or the cost of shipping.  I jumped right on it and 
got my wish - however the weight of the receiver resulted in equally 
hefty DHL charges back in those days when 20 bucks would send a typical 
radio cross-country.    Still, I would have happily paid the same amount 
or more for an AR-88 had one turned up at a hamfest in the US (which 
almost never happens).    And since it came from England, I can 
fantasize that my AR-88 once saw service at Station X before ending up 
at the boys school.
