[Boatanchors] Morse Code in old radio ads

Merry Christmas all,
In the past I've mentioned that I'm an avid collector of OTR (Old Time
Radio Shows), as well as OLD Comic Books in eComic format (.CBZ & CBR
files, NO modern junk), OLD movies and OLD TV Shows.

Sometimes I'll hear some CW in an old radio show or movie, but very
rarely in a radio ad. Sometime sit is well done, but very often it's
just gibberish, sort of like giving a monkey a telegraph key to play with.

Last night I was listening to some 1953 episodes of "Your FBI In Peace
And War", sponsored by "Wheaties, the breakfast of Champions". Each of
their ads was featuring a story of a famous sports figure and started
with a string of three "V's", as well as using a string of three "V's"
throughout the ad to punctuate the important points.

What caught my ear was that the CW was very well sent and 'clean' at a
moderately fast pace (maybe 15WPM or so). I suspect a 'bug' was used as
the dits were even and quick, the dahs felt a bit long to me. But the
note was just a bit 'harsh' sounding, didn't sound like a buzzer, but
not "pure like a receiver with a BFO. Figure it must have been a Code
Practice Osc.

"Yours Truly Johnny Dollar" (an insurance investigator who traveled all
over the USA and sometimes overseas) was a show that when overseas
sometimes used "Ham Radio" for Johnny to "phone patch" back to his
office in Hartford Conn (yeah, not exactly a kosher use of Ham Radio ;-)
Whoever the sound man was on that show usually did a very good job,
you'd hear authentic QRM and QRN in the background during the 'patch'.
