[Boatanchors] AM linear question

Sad fact is, in many cases they're also spitting and sputtering 20KC up and down the band. Unfortunately, a large number of guys running linear amplifiers on AM have no idea how to properly tune one. When you try to explain it to them, they swear you don't know what you're talking about. I gave up on 75 meters AM about 5 years ago because the splatter got so bad. One guy was running 4-811A's at 500 watts of carrier. Another one was running 375 watts of carrier with pair of 813's. Generally speaking, linear amplifiers and AM are a bad combination.
