One minor point:  Lots of rigs with triode finals are in operation.
Any BC610 is an example.  Ken W0HRO runs 100TH finals; Bob WB9ECK runs
a 5762 final; Don K4KYV runs nothing but triode finals and I am
working on a dual 3-400 rig.   The guys with the tetrode and pentode
finals are usually using plastic radio drivers.  It's true that often
you do need a lot more RF to drive triodes.
