[Boatanchors] Elenco AM FM Superhet 108 Kit

*IF* anyone else did indeed buy this kit, you have my deepest sympathies 
AND Apology!

The AM portion was not an issue!

The FM half was a disaster!  Not the circuit!  The blankety blank 
Transistors!

I'd guess that the supplier for this kit used transistors that were 
swept off the floor!

I procured a fair number of the 2N3904s, removed the ones that came with 
the kit, and put in the ones I procured!  Then and ONLY then did I even 
get a hiss from the speaker in the FM section!

I had even broke out the Sig Gen., Frequency Counter(s), AND the 
Oscilloscope!  They did not indicate that those components were bad!  So 
mush for Elenco's manual!

Their procedure(s) gave the indication that all was well.  However - No 
sound EVER came out when switched to FM!

BTW - They dropped this *kit* not long after I obtained this one for my 
granddaughter!

No bloody wonder!

I have also gone back to them requesting a replacement Tuning Capacitor. 
  It too is (politely...), JUNK!

Hopefully they will send a replacement!
