You might be thinking of "Ham Radio Boxes".  He had custom boxes sized for various radios and they included laser cut foam inserts for an exact fit.  I have a pair for my S-Line and the boxes are fabulous.  Alas I believe he closed his shop a year or two ago.  Check around and see if he's still in business.  I did a brief search and his old website address is not active.
