[Boatanchors] Two questions

Howard,

The HRO-500's are rather temperamental and trouble prone. I sold mine
in frustration a while back, and I consider myself a
more-than-competent repair technician. The place to start is to pull
out and reseat all the plug-in transistors, perhaps adding a little Deoxit.

Good luck,
Al

The volume does not vary with adjusting the volume knob and is so loud that I can’t tell whether there’s any audio underneath. Is this a recognized failure mode for hollow-state receivers? Something shorted in the audio output circuit? Tube? Capacitor?
