"Cingular Wireless" (joint venture between SBC and Bell South) was around
from roughly 2000 to 2007. In 2004 they acquired the old AT&T Wireless.
SBC acquired the original AT&T in 2006. Then, through the use of smoke
and mirrors, Cingular became owned by AT&T, I think also in 2006, when
AT&T acquired Bell South. After that in 2007, Cingular went with the AT&T
name. If you worked for the orignal AT&T back in the 80's, they seemed to
be doing the same type of smoke and mirrors dance every several months.
