I did see something in researching this thing, that some SOJs did use
chassis and cabinets from an SAF.  It was not stated as clearly as you
stated it. There was no explanation of what an SAF was.  The stuff I read
said that if one could remove one of the metal front trim pieces from the
cabinet one would find markings related to an SAF.

It is looking more and more that I do indeed have the SOJ-1 and the SAF
model marking is superfluous, the rubber stamped SOJ is the governing
marking.

I will need to do some adapting to use the SOJ with the S-Meter on the
NC-57, as both units use the octal accessory socket.

Now I still need to locate the original documentation for the SOJ.
