[Boatanchors] [BoatAnchors] Question from an admitted 'Newbie'

FWIW: I think it is all about nostalgia. And what is nostalgia to one may be a bad dream for someone else :-)

When I started getting active again I saw a restored Hallicrafters S-19R from a guy in Michigan. I had one of those in the mid-50s, sat in front of it for hours. Couldn't resist it. And then...someone had a Heathkit QF-1, just like I had in the 50s...it is now on my desk. Then some ARC-5 gear...etc., etc., etc.

Doesn't matter the size, weight, and so on. What matters is what does it mean to *me*

Is this a great hobby, or what?

I like that Dennis. The key being that it is something that was once useful/desirable, is now scorned by people who desire the latest/greatest, but is still loved by outlaws like us.

And Arden has it right that there are as many definitions as people. I can't define a boatanchor but i know one when I lift it.
YMMV
