Yeah, and I do all that and more and just consider it repaired
I even developed a technique to rebuild the original dial lamps to not
require any changes and they are brighter and better than changing a
resistor and soldering in a bulb that illuminates from the side rather than
the end as it needs to be.

I would suggest a re-read.
I did *NOT* say it *WAS* a KISS refurb.
I simply said it sounds like some of what they have done, yet *I* said
someone seems to have done this earlier.
The entire KISS refurbish of the AN/URM-25s went far beyond simple
piddling mods.
The entire power input was altered to remove the antiquated power
coils/capacitor input, and replaced it with an IERC input socket and filter.
There were numerous *other* parts removal and changes. This included
rewiring the dial lamps and replacement with ones that are common place now.
