[Boatanchors] Utah Jr Oscillator Circuit?

I've been getting my Utah Jr back on the air (see 
http://w0vlz.blogspot.com/ ) and wondered the background behind the 
oscillator circuit. It has an RF choke in the cathode circuit bypassed 
with a 200mmf mica cap. I found it described in the 1937 Frank C Jones 
Radio Handbook as the "Jones Regenerative Oscillator". It is not shown 
in the 1939 Radio Handbook and the Utah Jr is no longer advertised.

Any ideas why the quick demise? Does this circuit show up in the 1938 
Jones Handbook?
