I guess "rare" is the eyes of the beholder. I have never bought any of my
"rare" pieces on Ebay. My SX-88 had a spot on the curb, so was my CE 100V
(different curbs; different times; different places) waiting for trash
pickup. My Squires Sanders SS-1R and SS-1V were found in a basement
(someone moving) at a great price. The matching speaker and SS-1S noise
blanker were both found at a local hamfest for $5. My HRO-500 was found
at a Company sending a whole bunch of equipment to recycling. My McKay
Dymek DR-22C and DR-33C were both found at local hamfests. One of my Li'l
Lulu 6 meter receivers(1 of 6 that were made) and the companion
transmitter were found at a local hamfest. And there were others that
came and went.
