I've had a SP-400 with grey wrinkle finish and have had one with a smooth grey finish.  I seem to recall seeing one on eBay that had a black wrinkle finish.

THe original civilian SP-200s and earlier had black wrinkle front panels.

Mike,

It's worth while Googling SP-400 images. They all seem to be smooth grey 
of some sort.

FWIW, my SP-110 is fine black wrinkle. but that goes back to 1938-39.
