There's nothing wrong with a fixed value air dielectric cap.  I prefer
them over fixed vacuum because they do not leak.  Fixed vac only
provides higher v. but if you don't need that fixed air cap is better
in dry condx.   surplus sales sells fixed air capacitors.   Oddly,
fixed vac. caps are more common and cheaper.  I use them when space is
available where a mica or doorknob might be used only because they can
be had for a low amount of money.   Most don't want them because they
don't know what to do with them (I guess).
