[Boatanchors] HP-8708A Synchronizer?

Recently acquired an HP-606B signal generator. Although my initial
impression is that this is probably stable enough for most of my needs,
the 'Synchronizer' sounds like an interesting box.

I would guess that this is some sort of comb generator combined with
a mixer-type phase detector that forms a weakly-locked PLL. Would be
interesting to find a manual (no luck so far, not on BAMA, not on the HP
historical sites that I've looked at). Would be glad of any info.

There are a couple of these units on eBay but they are going for much
more than I paid for my 606B :)
