Absolutely correct. Circuits are circuits. If you have the schematics,
block diagram, maybe some logic info, etc., tracing the circuit and
signal flow in an SDR rig (or other equipment using large scale
integration devices) is no different then doing the same activities on a
boatanchor. Of course, having proper testing tools is a must. The
traditional Lafayette/Heathkit-type VOM/VTVM or Eico-type signal tracer
won't get you very far with SDR-type circuits. Great used logic analyzers
can be had today for $300 to $400 or less.
