As you know, I've been grappling with a low audio condition in this receiver. Many of you have been kind enough to offer advice and guidance and I truly appreciate it.

Today, the mystery was solved (Thank you, Al Klase). The problem was in the Select-O-Jet socket. The plug was there and the jumper was in it, so everything looked good. However, the jumper wasn't working. The wire must have been broken internally or in the pin of the plug. I installed a new jumper and now I have all the volume I could want. I played it for a few minutes on 80m and 49m and was very impressed with its performance.

I'm glad this is resolved. I bought this radio at an estate sale for a decent price, probably because it had been stored in a damp, flood-prone basement and looked like hell. Put it this way, there was another radio guy there who bought all the other radios at the sale but passed on this one because it was so rough. There's something especially gratifying when an old bomb like this starts working as it was supposed to work. I think it's going to clean up nicely.
