For anyone with a mic they want to quickly test, connect the element
or mic to the vertical input of an oscilloscope and crank up the
sensitivity. Most mics will generate enough audio voltage to give a
trace on the scope when you speak into it. If the element is
undamaged, you should see a clean waveform. Try whistling. xtal mics
work best for this as they are high output.
