[Boatanchors] laugh of the day!

 Thanks Ken. Although I am officially an 'old fart', I wax nostalgic about a lot of things. The S-120 is NOT one of them.
Yes, I did make a few contacts back in my Novice days (1962 ish), but it was tough. I lived in an apartment and used rain gutters for an antenna. I even added a Heath Q-Multiplier to help. I must have shoveled a mountain of snow to buy that radio.
Looking for something better, but affordable, I read every magazine I could, that talked about receivers. I shoveled several more mountains of snow and my parents 'allowed' me to purchase a new radio.
My dad drove me to the Lafayette store in Natick Mass, where I purchased a new HE-80.
Frist time I spun those flywheel knobs, I was in love!

Although now I can afford any of the radios I only dreamed of as a youth (and I DO have a huge collection), I still have a soft spot in my heart (and head) for all the Lafayettes in my collection.

The S-120 was popular enough that several companies made look-alikes. Some were even solid state!

Ron;
    People will ask as much as people are willing to pay. If you really
want one, there are quite a few on Fleabay for a lot less. Never had
one, but its not a bad looking radio.
