     Well, as the saying goes something is worth exactly 
what someone is willing to pay for it.
     The S-120 is essentially the S-38A in later form with 
miniature tubes. Almost identical circuit and probably 
pretty much identical performance. National made the first 5 
tube AA wonder using miniatures with the SW-54. It does not 
have a good reputation, supposedly not as good as the S-38. 
The S-120 might be better.  My first short wave receiver was 
an S-38B, bought new. I got it because  neighbor kid had one 
and I nagged until my parents bought me one too. Probably 
could have done better for the money with a used something 
or other but was too naive.  I still have that receiver 
somewhere in storage.
     Hallicrafters philosophy was to make equipment which 
was good value. For a quite long time they did this. H made 
very little "world class" gear but most of their stuff 
delivered as advertised and was affordable.  Some was very 
good. I think H got caught up in making "consumer" grade 
equipment which probably affected its ham gear.
     Anyway, I would pay maybe $20 for one of these if it 
was in really good condition... maybe. Its not something I 
particularly want.
