[Boatanchors] What ever happened to the spring load plate clips?

Doug,
I haven't seen any of those spring loaded plate caps for a long time. I don't like using those ceramic jobs as they insulate the metal from radiating heat away from the plate. That is unless you have some low demand tube not generating a lot of plate heat. So what I do is usually use the aluminum finned plate caps. So far my applications provided me enough headroom to use them. They look good too! If headroom is a real problem, buy some aluminum rod stock. (The dreaded site has lots of it in different diameters.) Then cut off a 3/8th inch piece, drill out for your plate cap and the drill a side hole and tap it for a set screw. I guess you cold buy some brass tube stock from a hobby shop, cut a slice in it for expansion and then solder a wire to the cut open brass tube stock. This would not look as good but it would be fast, inexpensive and work OK.

Remember the Heath kit & other co's 6146 spring loaded plate clips?
You squeezed the tabs together to remove. All I can find now is thepush on caps. Maybe I am not searching the right name.
