I'm sorry to hear that Dave is a Silent Key. His passing is a real loss
to the techie community.
Has anyone heard if someone has taken over the assets of his manual
business? Dave had made so many high-quality manual copies and other
documentation available over the years, and it would be a real shame if
all that stuff is allowed to just fall into the bit-bucket. There
aren't that many people out there who are making good quality
documentation available. A lot of what you find is poor-quality
multi-generation copies of low resolution scans. Dave didn't just
produce manuals, but he also published quite a few technical bulletins,
application notes and other reference materials which have to be in
limited circulation (read that - made of unobtainium). I believe it was
Dave who even made available component cross-references of HP and
Tektronix house numbers to industry part numbers.
The main reason I started this quest was to obtain a copy of a CD that
Dave sold a number of years ago called the EIMAC Amateur Service
Newsletter CD. From information I found online during a Google search
for 'EIMAC', there was mention of this disk which contained a lot of the
EIMAC Application Bulletins, as well as a lot of other useful EIMAC
documentation. I have a very limited collection of EIMAC data, but I
would have loved to have gotten my hands on a copy of this CD.
Unfortunately, that may never happen. Sad.
If anyone has any more info about Dave's manual inventory, please share it.
Thanks!
