we have a transmitter  like  but  ours was built  back  then..  I  would 
like to  fire it up some time  but  need  some  good   type 10s  or something 
like them...  if  lesser power tubes  just use less b+ maybe!?

I've never  understood the rationale behind this...more space for ad 
revenue 
??...room  for one more article on "How To Build a Dipole" ?  I know 
several  
VE7's that have dropped their subscriptions because of this very thing.  
One 
of the best issues of QST was always the annual Sweepstake summary,  
listing 
all winners equipment / antennas as well as photos. At one time it  was 
almost always a HB transmitter of sorts and a commercial  receiver.....How 
did they lose their way so badly?
