I purchased several electret cartridges from Newark some time ago.  As I 
recall, they were about $2.50 each.  I don't know who makes them.

I installed several in various microphones, two being desk microphones for 
use with a K3 and a 756 PRO2.  From all reports, beautiful audio.  I also 
installed one in a microphone for use with an HX-50-again, good audio 
reports, and another in a D-104 with excellent audio reports.

In every case you must provide some voltage for the cartridge-8V works well. 
Send it up one mic line and couple the audio back into the transmitter 
through a capacitor into the audio input.  Adjust the size of the capacitor 
for the results you desire.
