Anyone with a TR-106 certainly has my admiration.  It's one of those elusive rigs that a ham would like to have had but never had the opportunity to get.
 
Also, 6m AM is one activity I'm still hoping to get to.

A 2E26 tube will do 8 - 12 watts out on CW but should not be run at that level for AM or it will distort and produce a nasty signal. Remember that it has to be capable of reproducing modulation peaks that are four times the resting power level. So 3 or 4 watts is about right.
