Mark,

BRAVO!

Some of the critics nowadays are now "all knowing" ex- "Chickenbanders"!
"Experts" with a lot of "knowhow"!

I have been at this game (amateur radio) for quite a while. I find out
frequently my favorite axiom: "The more you know, the more you know that
you don't know". In simpler language: "The smarter you get, the more
you find out how stupid you and others really are!"

There "ain't no such thing as an EXPERT"!! Anyone.........yes, ANYONE
who claims to be an expert is frequently full of "bovine fecal matter"!
No, there really isn't any experts!

Nothing beats good old bandwidth using, power wasting Amplitude
modulation. Two sidebands and power wasting carrier. There is
something special about it. Even the self proclaimed "hamband
audiophiles" with their "hi-fi" SSB fool themselves daily bragging about
the audio quality of their expensive compressors, expanders and
additional junque that they delight their listeners with. Somehow they
don't seem to realize the crap they are broadcasting like pseudo
"controlled carriers etc. that "QRM" their SSB neighbors 3 khz away.
(Sorry, tongue poking hard into cheek!)

Don't forget the "modern" digital bunch that abhors Cw and continous
wave, deemed long obsolete and useless. Designed to prevent some people
from becoming "ham operators"
and now rescued by the elimination of useless old fashioned
"radiotelegraphic" code from required practice in their new knowledge of
"digital" radio communication. (A brain is a terrible thing to waste
now that we have ever more complex and smaller digital computers at our
disposal.) {Yes some people seem to have forggotten how to use their
precious, marvelous "brain" they were born with!}

So some of us "old timers" still persist in using the "old obsolete"
technology taxing our brain mercelessly by those who still practice this
almost "lost art" of the past.!

I also enjoy the art and chellenge STILL of CW, AM, and SSB in spite of
the digital "interpretors" we "MUST HAVE" to understand what is being
communicated in our new digital world!

I understand your "vent" completely Mark! AGAIN: "BRAVO!!"....

73 to all,

Sandy W5TVW
