Mac,
I believe your thinking about the FL-8. The FL-5F is a stand alone
filter that is used with the BC-354 selector switch to achieve the same
function as the FL-8.

In either case the filter is used to either select or block the 1020 Hz
Morse signal used on the old A-N Navigational Ranges. Some of these
stations transmitted voice data, weather etc., as well as the 1020 Hz
A-N signals.
