Every passing year, the Lemmings
(I don't call them "sheep;" sheep serve a useful purpose)
make themselves more and more dependant on
on an increasingly tenuous and fragile web of electronic
toys. The number of possible failure modes has exploded
and they are ever-more inter-related in their ability to
down whole systems.
One of these days, some smart guy is going to figure-out
where to touch one little match, burn-down that whole
spider web and the "Electronic Village" is going to
collapse right back into the 1880s,
but with mass mayhem added for fun.
Once The West has self-destructed,
I hope the Chinese will be wiser than we
on a lot of issues.
Maybe they can discard all our vote-buying bullsh*t
and social fairytales and finally take Man to the stars.
We sure aren't going.
