[Boatanchors] Tube radio and power outages

My suggestion is to use the same protection you would use for a solid state station. Get an APC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) with adequate power to run your two rigs for 1/2 hour or so. Sam's Club is usually a really good bet to get the cheapest price. I have bought several there.

Run your hollow state rigs from that UPS at all times. When your house lights start blinking, you know it's time to shut down your ham gear.

Also, get 130V rated lamps for your house and they will last a VERY long time without failing. Those are considered "severe" usage and you can still get them to 100W and even higher, at least in specialty lamp stores. The higher price for 130V lamps will pay off in the long run.
