For a long time Ten Tec derided the idea of including AM as a mode in
their SSB-CW plastic radios.  I've been told they'd sneer at anyone
who asked for AM to be included as a mode.  I think one rig, the
Paragon included fake AM (one sideband plus injected carrier) but that
was it.  For a long time they were known for making good CW
transceivers.  I still own one that I use for that occasionally and
also as a signal source.  But their marketing must have told them CW
is a dead end so they've thrown CW under the bus evidently, because
now their ad slogan is "The SSB Company."  Since Ten Tec never made a
boatanchor I'll stop here.
