I know!  However, it would have been "nicer" if he had used the money to pay part of what I was owed!  Paying for articles is also part of doing business!

But that was a expense deduction. Cost is not a concern when you can roll 
it into "cost of doing business".

It wasn't the fact that the Cowans didn't have the money to pay the  authors!  During the fall of 1971, I represented CQ at a hamvention in  Boston.  Dick Cowan was there.  He took me out to dinner and spent  well over $300 at a particular restaurant and there was no alcohol  involved!
