You can write it off but you still spent money that had to come from sales
but you only save the tax on that dinner cost. By saying "cost is not a
concern" is not correct in my opinion. How many manuals would you have to
sell to recoup that cost of a dinner? Do you have a way to track increased
sales, if there are any, from funding that dinner? I promise to not comment
any further since this is too far off topic. This is just a good natured
discussion among boatanchor enthusiasts.

Taking a client to dinner is a business expense. You can write it off as
an expense of doing business.
